Alpine Lakes Air was established in 1995 as a specialty air service that provides safe and reliable air transportation into the rugged backcountry of northern British Columbia. “Bush operations”, as we call it, is not just a sideline; it is our business. Our staff are highly experienced, having spent over 30 years in the harsh environments of British Columbia, the Yukon and other remote areas.

Wendel Imhof arrived in Smithers in 1985 and quickly gained experience flying in Northern BC, the Yukon and Alaska during the mining boom of that time. He then founded Alpine Lakes Air in 1995. Putting safety first and providing excellent customer service, he lead the company for nearly 30 years and built the outstanding reputation Alpine Lakes Air has today. We continue to be mentored by Wendel and consider it an honour to carry on Alpine Lakes Air’s journey while he enjoys the well earned freedom of retirement.
